Apply shipping by product type - physical or not

It would be good to be able to apply shipping to certain products and not others. Use case would be digital products or in my case, a donation (where there is nothing to ship) and physical products that require shipping with tax added to the shipping cost. Customers may have both types of items in the check out at the same time.
