Categories - 'detail view enabled' toggle isn't working

Helen Eichel has requested this - "I'd like to use categories to statically place them on a page - but I don't want people to mistakenly punch in a url that links to item slug.
Basically, I'd like to filter the categories, but not treat them as landing pages."
