Studio in WebApps
We all love webApps because we can define required fields we want the client to use, where I see studio being super powerful is having the ability to have a ‘Studio field’ in a webapp entry.
Imagine you have a webApp for a Blog, the client fills in the required fields (title, subtitle, main image, categories etc etc) but in the content area, the ability to compose the structure of the entry with Studio features would be awesome.
I.e you could have structures for a video with a caption, a gallery of images pulling dynamically from another source, a list of team members (pulled in dynamically or manually), a pull quote, testimonial (dynamically from another webapp), a image to the left and text to the right, etc etc.
This would give the client so much flexibility in how they can build out webApp items rather than trying to deal with a wysiwyg editor.

It’s a really interesting one and a great example of the kind of things I’d like to discuss in a Workshop call with Alpha users so we can ensure we take Studio in the right direction.
We plan to use Studio for things other than pages including WebApp Detail pages but hadn’t really considered it for individual WebApp Items. The tricky bit is whether we’d be using Studio to insert JSON into a specific field or whether effectively it would build extra WebApp Detail Views that can be used for one or multiple items. I think the latter is probably better as I can imagine people would want to reuse the same setup for other items without having to do it manually each time?

I imagine when I am creating a new WebApp I would create the normal fixed fields i want the client to complete, then have a Studio ‘field’ that has defined ‘sections’ in it that the client can then use to build out the detailed view of the webApp.
This would create the flexibility for the client to make the content of that webApp as they wish, without being bound by fixed fields everywhere.
For example, I have a client that has 15 venues. I would have the fixed fields of Logo, Phone, Email, Opening Hours, Location details.
Then in the Studio field I would let them upload a gallery, pull in events, Home Delivery options, summary of the venue etc etc.
Currently I have fields to cover every option which makes the admin page crazy long and not all venues need them. If we had a Studio section for all that, they can choose to add in sections and position them where they want in the order.
