Unable to set homepage.

I've begun working on a demo website and I have managed to create pages without problem, but when I assign one of those pages to be my homepage it defaults to the "Welcome to Siteglide" introduction page.
If I view the page before selecting the 'Set as your homepage' option it works fine, if I switch this option to be my homepage then it reverts back to Welcome to Siteglide.
